Slovenia - the summer holiday country for those who want to stay away from beaches
I know you're out there. You don't like sand, pebbles, couples playing bat and ball in thongs at the edge of the sea for hours at a time, sunbathing or intense heat. This one is for you.
Slovenia is a country 12 times smaller than the UK, which makes it a really good place for a self drive, fresh water activity based holiday for people who like greenery, rivers, and fewer people than in the usual summer holiday destinations. That’s not to say it’s not a popular place to go, it really is, it’s just not really a beach country - in fact, it only has 29 miles of coast to its name.
Due to its size, this is a really leisurely itinerary, without too many stops.
